About Us

Breastfeeding Norfolk was started in 2015 by Jan Edye IBCLC, who is now joined by Breastfeeding Practitioners, Claire Philips Hill and Jo Naylor as team members. The team offers free breastfeeding support at the well established drop-in session at West Pottergate Medical Practice on Thursday mornings, and Jan Edye also offers private consultations throughout the week.

To find out more about the free drop in session and accessing private breastfeeding support visit our What We Offer page.

Jan Edye IBCLC

Jan has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for 30 years. She pioneered West Pottergate Breastfeeding Support Centre in Norwich in 1992, which still runs every Thursday morning.

Jan’s background is formerly with both the National Childbirth Trust and Breastfeeding Network as a breastfeeding supporter, supervisor and tutor, and has worked as an IBCLC for the NHS.

She is a mother and grandmother with many years experience of supporting mothers and babies to breastfeed, and training volunteer breastfeeding supporters and professional health workers.

Outside of the breastfeeding world, Jan enjoys cycling, aqua-fit, singing with her local choir and going to the theatre.

Claire Philips Hill, Breastfeeding Practitioner

Claire has been a breastfeeding peer supporter since 2012, volunteering regularly at at West Pottergate Breastfeeding Support Centre, and on the postnatal ward at NNUH. Claire is a mum to two teenagers whose early days started her on the path of breastfeeding support.

When she’s not volunteering or working, Claire can usually be found with a book in hand, playing a board game or crocheting!

Jo Naylor, Breastfeeding Practitioner

Jo Naylor was until recently a midwife, supporting women through pregnancy, birth and those wonderful exhilarating but exhausting weeks with a new baby. With over 25 years experience as a feeding specialist both within the NHS and the voluntary sector with the Breastfeeding Network, Jo has supported mothers and families through all the ups and downs of feeding, nurturing, then starting solids and ultimately weaning.

Jo is a regular volunteer at West Pottergate Breastfeeding Support Centre.

Jo is a mum to 3 wonderful grown up daughters, has 2 grandchildren and two unruly and very loveable Border Terriers.
